It seems that the director of Iron Man 1 & 2 made his decision this morning and informed Marvel that he would not be returning to direct the film. Browser of the Future

I don't think I've had an opportunity to properly review Google's web browser (Chrome) for you guys yet, but as a prequel....it's really really good! Anyway, yesterday Google launched their WebApp store for the Chrome browser, an interesting concept to add to a browser. I'm looking forward to see what it will grow into!

Anticipated Reboot?

Back in the day the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie was the bees knees, it even got me into the TV show w/ Sarah Michelle Gellar. Now Warner Brothers is reporting that they plan to do a reboot that may come out as early as 12-18 months from today!! I have to ask you guys though, is it worth it to do another? I think some movies should be laid to rest at some point. Though I loved the series, vampires are getting a little over saturated. What do you think?

1st Amendment Rights Under Attack!

If you haven't already heard, our 1st amendment rights have been under attack by the state of California since 2004 (and if you haven't...have you been living under a rock??). From the beginning: Senator Leland Yee was appalled by a scene in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and drafted a law to make it illegal for minors to purchase Violent/Obscene video games. This law had many other implications that would require 'ultra violent' video games (defined so broadly that Super Mario Bros. was pulled into the discussion at one point!) to be sold separately from all other games, similar to the way PlayBoy is sold separately from other magazines, and require an 2" x 2" sticker labeling the game as XXX or 18+ Only. This is serious censorship, and would bring all forms of entertainment into question. The Govenator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) signed the law into effect, but upon appeal, the courts ruled the law to be unconstitutional. Every appeal the state of California has made has also been ruled unconstitutional, but yesterday the struggle finally reached the Supreme Court. This is definitely something to keep an eye out for, especially since all other courts have sided with the first decision of unconstitutional...how could it have made it all the way to the supreme court?? Fight Night....UFC 121

Tomorrow night former WWF wrestler Brock Lesner will put his UFC Heavy Weight title on the line at UFC 121. He will be facing the up an coming Mexican poster boy Cain Velasquez. Judging from SpikeTV's "Primetime" (reality show that takes you behind the scenes w/ the fighters as they prep for the upcoming PayPerView) both camps are ready for war. But to be honest, I'm really not expecting much of a fight. Brock looks like he's in the best shape of his life which is saying ALOT and he's got 40 lbs. on Cain not to mention he is still as fast as Cain. Regardless, I'm gonna make my way to some sports bar to see what happens, and I'm hoping Tito Ortiz gets knocked out in the undercard (unfortunately I doubt that will happen).

So, there haven't been too many shows that I was crazy about this fall except for The Event and Lone Star, unfortunately they were both on Mondays at 9pm...hence Lone Star was canceled after only 2 episodes!! They stopped production and everything, many were shocked...catch the first two episodes here while you can. There are 3 other episodes that they finished filming, hopefully they make them available on HULU or something...

So, a few weeks ago Engadget posted about this military vehicle DAPRA is trying to build which is fundamentaly a Hummer that flies. Now as an engineer, transformer fanboy, and Toys'r'us kid...this sounds absolutely fantastic!!! But as the writers of the original post point out...the idea is rather flawed. I mean honest, the wings of such a vehicle would be an easy target to take it down w/ minimal resources, so why would you put the gas in there?!?!? Click the link below for the full story.

Let me start this review off right...BEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER, MAYBE THE YEAR!!!! Christopher Nolan does it again, this psychological thrill ride will have you thinking for days. 2 hours and 20 minutes of suspense and action, absolutely no fluff. Amazing scenes including zero gravity fighting...how do you even do that!?! My favorite part of the movie was the concept, can you only imagine corporate espionage of this calibor?? And I like how they made the multi level dreaming allow for more time...the addition of Mol was major too, i'll try not to spoil anything, just take my word for it...if this is the only review you listen to, go see this movie!!!

For those of you haven't already heard, HULU the great tv recap website has launched a preview to their new premium subscription service, Hulu Plus. A $10 monthly subscription will allow users to see entire seasons (including old seasons) of all their favorite shows and hulu plus many many more including old shows. But wait, thats not all! You'll also be able to watch hulu plus on your iPhone, iPad, PS3, XBox360, and internet enabled TVs. Its a cool deal if you ask me, but 10$ is a lil steep for me, especially when I have a DVR, but I would get it if anyone wanted to split it...

So Jobs'y has decided to give out free bumpers to all iphone 4 owners until September 30th. You can begin to order these bumpers starting next week. And if you've already got your $30 accesory, than find your receipt and get a reimbursement.

iPhone 4 Antenna Issues...

Some people have reported serious issues with their new iPhone, especially w/ the antenna losing service and dropping calls if the phone is held 'incorrectly.' Even consumer digest confirmed an issue w/ the phones. Apple has decided to get ahead of this fiasco before it is too late, today at 1pm ET the will be holding a press conference to address the issue, check back here for an update.

M. Night Shyamalan....last chance

So, from what I hear, M. Night's latest movie (The Last Airbender) was horrible...yes he took an amazing story and destroyed it from every review I've heard. I said to myself, this was his last chance to redeem himself. But wait, I saw a trailer today that might bring this man back to the greatness of SIGNS. Check out the trailer his next movie, "Devil"

Yesterday jcniper put me on to this new show from NBC called "Persons Unknown"(Monday nights at 10pm). So far it looks like a really good show...starts off like a saw movie...people wake up somewhere w/ no idea how they got there and the first episode ends w/ a crazy twist! iPhone 4 news!!!

As promised, the iPhone 4 was announced by Steve Jobs today, and it just may be the best smart phone you could have asked for. Some little known additions include a new radio antenna scheme that looks to even make AT&T's network seem decent, video chat between iphones, HD video...yes 720p in the palm of your hand, the thinnest phone smartphone around, super hi-res screen, and apple's A4 processer pushing it super fast!

The phone will be available in 16gb ($200) & 32gb ($300)...the 3gs will go down to $99 and the 3g has been discountinued (suprise suprise). Preorders for the phone start on June 15th and the phone is officially releasing in the US on June 24th! The day everyone will be running to an apple/at&t store!!!

Unfortunately ABC dropped the hammer on the hit show FlashForward. Many compared the show to LOST especially because of some of the shared development team and Actors. This show was meant to do battle w/ 'V' to fill the void that would be left by LOST after this season and 'V' won the spot. Many think they may have made the wrong choice. Sweet new Netflix agreement

Yesterday, Netflix signed a new deal with Universal and Twentieth Century Fox. What does that mean for Netflix customers??? A little bit of bad, and a lot a bit of GOOD! First the bad...you will have to wait 28 days after the retail release of dvds from this studio before you can rent them on Netflix (similar to the deal with Time Warner). In return, we'll be getting more content for instant viewing and TV Streaming (that means your favorite fox shows, even the throwback ones, will be available to watch. yes the old seasons too). I'm excited...soon all studios will join the party if they wanna keep up w/ their customer's needs!

UFC: 112 "Invincible"

3 Main Events, 2 of which are title fights!Looks to be a really good ppv again this month. Starting from the bottom, Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie. Two legends in MMA meeting for the first time...Matt is best known for his world class wrestling and Renzo is best know for the time he would not tap in a fight...to the point that his opponent snapped his arm! No matter who wins...this is gonna be a good one!
Lightweight Championship: BJ Penn vs. Frankie Edgar. BJ has a slight height advantage, and more experience. Frankie has really come up the ranks in this division, but I don't think he's quite ready to take on BJ at this point of his career. I think Penn will keep his title with a decisive victory.
Middleweight Championship: Anderson "the spider" Silva vs. Demian Maia. I know very little about Maia...i've heard he does well on the ground, but anyone who's seen the spider fight knows that he's not letting it get to the ground! The spider is often called the best pound for pound fighter in the world...his cocky attitude and unorthodox style make him seem off, but once he connects, it's lights out! I say Silva by knockout!

iPhone OS 4.0 Update

So yesterday's presentation has finished and some rumors have been confirmed while others have been put to rest. Apple announced that there will be 100 new features coming with OS 4.0 this summer, but they chose to only focus on 7 'tentpole' upgrades, as they put it. Here they are:
1) Multitasking!!! they are doing it in their own way...which looks to save more battery power than most multitasking phones.
2) Folders: people like me have 11 pages of apps and it's annoying to flip through them all to get to new ones...folders will allow you to group apps into....you guessed it! folders.
3) Email update: OS 4.0 will allow for a unified email box and the ability to open up attachments in seperate applications...for example...open a word doc in a word processing app. This can become very useful.
4) iBooks: the iBook store/reader from the iPad will be added the the iPhone...whooopy....
5) Enterpise Update: if you use your phone for business, look for better protection, Mobile device management, wireless app distribution, ssl vpn support....
6) Game Center: this is kinda big for the gaming industry...apple finally realized how they can really profit in the gaming world. 3rd party companies like OpenFeint offered acheivements & leader boards for a wide variety of games...now apple will do that for all games and allow you to have a friends list who you can invite to play games, gift apps too, and compare accomplishments.
7) iAds: tired of seeing those ads in your free apps? well apple will be allowing companies to put interactive and more entertaining ads that won't take you to safari in their apps. I'm just hoping this doesn't get overboard.

Some other new things worth mentioning...ability to change home screen wallpaper, ability to change passcode to use letters, faster app switching, face detection in photo app, spell check, and possible video conferencing????

Expect an announcement about the next iPhone to come out in mid-June. The worst thing I heard at the presentation was...OS 4.0 will not work on the first gen iPhone, and multitasking will not work on the iPhone 3G....BOOOOOO.

Who doesn't Love their job?

This has been one hell of a fun week. Monday I was a cubical jockey, Tuesday I spent half the day as a field tester and the other half as a mailman, and today I'm going to be a teacher or system trainer if you will. Who said engineers aren't diverse?!? Tomorrow I'll be a student w/ a big test afterwork...wish me luck. iPhone Excitement Returns!

Thats right!!!! Just days after the release of the iPad, Apple announces an iPhone OS 4.0 press conference will be held no later than friday!!! Thats right they are holding a press conference on April 8th, thats this week. Hopefully they confirm more rumors than they deny...be sure to check back here for a full recap.

Starting in the fall semester of 2010, Seton Hall University will be giving all of their students brand spanking new Apple iPads as part of their Seton Hall Griffin Technology Advantage Program. The students will even be able to download all their textbooks from the iBooks store straight to their iPad...sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. This college is very Mac friendly...they also give 13" MacBooks to incoming freshman. Sheesh, why did I ever decide SUNY...

In other news...

For those of you haven't heard, FOX has confirmed reports that the axe has been dropped on long running favorite....24. This season (8th) will be the final season, but I have received confirmation that a script for a '24' movie is currently being written. I guess Sex and the City has set a new model for shows that were not quite ready to call it quits.

Also...if anyone cares, yesterday Ricky Martin finally came out the closet and classified himself as homosexual. He did so with the following quote, "I am a fortunate homosexual man..." that's one way to step out the closet (as if 'she bangs' didn't do it for you).

This just in! Thiago Alves has withdrawn from his fight tomorrow night against Jon Fitch because of an irregularity discovered during a cat scan. Ultimate Fighter contestant Ben Saunders has requested to take his place. I was really looking forward to an Alves fight tomorrow, hopefully the irregularity was nothing serious. Tomm still promises to be one of the best UFC paperviews of the decade.

Weddings...how much is too much: photography

So wedding planning definitely ain't as hard as it sounds...not if you have a tree that sprouts money in the spring that is!!! The prices of wedding vendors are more than what some couples receive in gifts for the wedding. I've got a DJ, now I'm looking for a photographer & videographer (didn't even know the word/occupation existed until this search began) and I'm curious how much is too much? Yes, it's very important because you want to have these memories for a lifetime, but is it work paying $7,000?!?!? In case you're wondering that is an actual quote someone had the audacity to send me! Please chime in w/ your opinions & suggestions...because this is a mind boggling subject.

How will you discipline you're child?

I work with a lot of fathers and mothers, so I often hear..."O jimmy did this" and "skyler did that..." but when I ask they what they did about it, I rarely got the same answer. So I'm asking you what is the most appropriate/effective way to discipline your child w/o crossing the line or getting walked over by your son/daughter.
Personally I think different offenses call for different disciplines...if your child has a good amount of respect for you, a stern talking to after a small offense may set the on the right path. If it because a frequent offense, clearly something more is required perhaps a spanking and taking away some of the privileges they take for granted. I think my kids will get a nice mixture of disciple when the time comes...its important to get them on the right bath from the beginning, because the older they get the less effective "parental discipline" becomes....in my opinion. Please share your opinion in the comment section...and look to the right for a pole (since its been a while w/o a new post, I'll leave the pole active for a while).

Black Author wins The Matrix Copyright Infringement Case

This little known story has met a just conclusion, as Sophia Stewart, African American author of The Matrix will finally receive her just due from the copyright infringement of her original work!!!
A six-year dispute has ended involving Sophia Stewart, the Wachowski Brothers, Joel Silver and Warner Brothers. Stewart's allegations, involving copyright infringement and racketeering, were received and acknowledged by the Central District of California, Judge Margaret Morrow presiding.
Stewart, a New Yorker who has resided in Salt Lake City for the past five years, will recover damages from the films, The Matrix I, II and III, as well as The Terminator and its sequels. She will soon receive one of the biggest payoffs in the history of Hollywood , as the gross receipts of both films and their sequels total over 2.5 billion dollars.
Stewart filed her case in 1999, after viewing the Matrix, which she felt had been based on her manuscript, 'The Third Eye,' copyrighted in 1981. In the mid-eighties Stewart had submitted her manuscript to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers, requesting new sci-fi works..
According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in an attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that 'credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers.' These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart's original work and that it had been 'often used during preparation of the motion pictures.' The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart's case dismissed, without success.
Stewart has confronted skepticism on all sides, much of which comes from Matrix fans, who are strangely loyal to the Wachowski Brothers. One on-line forum, entitled Matrix Explained has an entire section devoted to Stewart. Some who have researched her history and writings are open to her story.
Others are suspicious and mocking. 'It doesn't bother me,' said Stewart in a phone interview last week, 'I always knew what was true.'
Some fans, are unaware of the case or they question its legitimacy, due to the fact that it has received little to no media coverage. Though the case was not made public until October of 2003, Stewart has her own explanation, as quoted at aghettotymz.com:
'The reason you have not seen any of this in the media is because Warner Brothers parent company is AOL-Time Warner.... this GIANT owns 95 percent of the media... let me give you a clue as to what they own in the media business... New York Times papers/magazines, LA Times papers/magazines, People Magazine, CNN news, Extra, Celebrity Justice, Entertainment Tonight, HBO, New Line Cinema, DreamWorks, Newsweek, Village Roadshow and many, many more! They are not going to report on themselves. They have been suppressing my case for years.'
Fans who have taken Stewart's allegations seriously, have found eerie mythological parallels, which seem significant in a case that revolves around the highly metaphorical and symbolic Matrix series. Sophia, the Greek goddess of wisdom has been referenced many times in speculation about Stewart. In one book about the Goddess Sophia, it reads, 'The black goddess is the mistress of web creation spun in her divine matrix.'
Although there have been outside implications as to racial injustice (Stewart is African American), she does not feel that this is the case. 'This is all about the Benjamins,' said Stewart. 'It's not about money with me. It's about justice.'
Stewart's future plans involve a record label, entitled Popsilk Records, and a motion picture production company, All Eyez On Me, in reference to God. 'I wrote The Third Eye to wake people up, to remind them why God put them here. There's more to life than money,' said Stewart. 'My whole to the world is about God and good and about choice, about spirituality over 'technocracy'.'
If Stewart represents spirituality, then she truly has prevailed over the 'technocracy' represented in both the Terminator and the Matrix, and now, ironically, by their supposed creators.
Stewart is currently having discussions with CBS about a possible exclusive story and has several media engagements in the near future to nationally publicize her victory. June 13th 2004. Sophia Stewart's press release read: 'The Matrix & Terminator movie franchises have made world history and have ultimately changed the way people view movies and how Hollywood does business, yet the real truth about the creator and creation of these films continue to elude the masses because the hidden secret of the matter is that these films were created and written by a Black woman...a Black woman named Sophia Stewart. But Hollywood does not want you to know this fact simply because it would change history. Also it would encourage our Black children to realize a dream and that is...nothing is impossible for them to achieve!'
